Becoming a Resident at
Villa de Vida Poway

Below are answers to questions we often get asked when someone is interested in becoming a resident of Villa de Vida, Poway.

How do I qualify to live at Villa de Vida, Poway?

Villa de Vida, Poway is operational and fully occupied. Although we do not currently have vacancies, HACSD continues to choose people from the waitlist if there is a vacancy.

Below is the process we followed and are likely to follow in the future, if we build another community, which we hope to do.

The Housing Authority of the County of San Diego (HACSD) opened a new waiting list for those interested in applying to live at Villa de Vida, Poway. All applicants were selected from this HACSD Villa de Vida, Poway Waiting List. The HACSD Villa de Vida, Poway Waiting List is not currently open. If a waiting list opens for either Villa de Vida, Poway or a future community, HACSD will notify the public when that Waiting List will open and interested individuals will be given a chance to apply in person, online or by calling HACSD.

HACSD will provide project-based vouchers (PBVs) to eligible applicants. PBVs help low-income families and individuals with the cost of their rent at a specific location. The HACSD will determine an applicant’s eligibility for the PBV program in accordance with the policies found in the HACSD Administrative Plan.

Waiting list priority is based on date and time of application, as well as living or working in the HACSD’s jurisdiction. Additionally, to qualify to live at Villa de Vida, Poway the head of household must meet the specific definition of disability, as this property is designated for a special population. The head of household must also be an individual adult with Developmental Disabilities or be an adult with disabilities that may benefit from the services offered through this development.

Do you give preferences to volunteers or donors?

NO. While we appreciate the generosity of our volunteers and donors, we CANNOT give preferences. We have to comply with Fair Housing and other regulatory standards depending on our funding sources.

How do I stay updated when new information about becoming a resident becomes available?

The best way to get direct information from the County is to subscribe to receive email or text notifications by going to the following site: https://service.govdelivery.com/accounts/CASAND/subscriber/new and selecting your preferences under the Housing category.

When we were building Villa de Vida, Poway, notification about the opening of the HACSD Villa de Vida, Poway Waiting List was also be posted on the HACSD website found here: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/sdhcd/.  Once the HACSD Villa de Vida, Poway Waiting Lists opened, you could then apply online by visiting: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/sdhcd/rental-assistance.html. Again, we do not currently have openings, but this is likely to be the process we follow if we build another community, which we hope to do.
